He’s the kind of guy you introduce to your parents
Because you know they’ll love him instantly
Not because he’s amazing, or impressive
But because they know you’re in good hands.
They know you’re in good hands
Because they know he won’t break your heart
Because they know that you’ll be the one doing the heartbreaking
Because you know that the world is cruel place
And you can’t afford to scratch your perfectly good heart.
You almost feel sorry for him
Because you know that he’s an amazing guy,
Impressive, above intelligent, kind, sweet
You could go on and on and on about the goodness in him
He’s an angel in your eyes, in everybody’s eyes
Yet you all know he’s just human.
To be human
Is to hurt
Is to feel pain
And to cause pain.
You’re all too familiar
Yet too naïve.
